Like if I say to myself, okay I’m going to have three hours a day this week then as long as I’m doing focused work for those three hours every day that week, I’m not going to worry so much about word count.

I think I try to work out methods that allow me to get to where I need to be.

So, I don’t worry about word counts as much as story progression.

It’s funny because ASTRID: You don’t have to answer this question, but I’m very much interested in the business of being a writer.

I mean, I don’t feel a sense of ownership over it as a project in any sense because the way I see it is it’s going to be a different thing at the end.

I really enjoyed this story, and the others in this series by Dervla McTiernan.

And I found what I was coming home with from the bookshops was crime fiction.


But we do a couple of hours of English and maths to spread over the time and we do other kinds of activities then.
